U4GM Guide to Diablo 4 Lair Boss Route Planning
Before you spend an evening chasing points, take a minute to check the Tactics board and your inventory. The best route isn't always the most exciting one. If you already have entry materials and need specific D4 items, a short run through a lair might make sense. If the Pit is where your unfinished objectives sit, though, that's probably where your time should go. After PTR tuning, try one run of each activity and see how the pace feels before settling into a routine.
Choose the Activity That Needs Work
Start with the emptiest relevant objective, not the activity you ran yesterday. Boss objectives can make lairs appealing, especially when you're still looking for a particular unique. Pit objectives call for a different approach: pick a tier you can finish reliably, even if it isn't your highest unlocked tier. A difficult run can be fun, but repeated deaths eat into the time you'd otherwise spend earning progress. Once an objective is complete, ask yourself what you're still getting from that activity. More loot may be worth it; more Tactics credit might not be.
Set Up Before You Start
Check your entry materials before travelling, and leave enough room in your inventory for drops. If you're joining a group, make sure everyone knows the destination and who's providing the required materials. Those little pauses add up when you've only got an hour to play. Solo runs can be quicker to organise, while a coordinated party may clear lairs faster. For the Pit, use a tier that suits your current gear and build. If the group isn't ready or you're missing materials, consider another activity that supports your equipment goals rather than spending the session waiting.
Make Your Hour Count
A simple comparison can help when both options look tempting: Activity | Main reason to run it | When to switch Lair bosses | Boss objectives and targeted loot | The objective is complete or materials run low Pit | Pit objectives and a repeatable tier | Clears become slow or the objective is complete For a full hour, spend the opening few minutes checking supplies, then give the main objective a solid block of time. Take a short break to salvage and stash before switching activities. If you've only got half an hour, stick with one plan. Loading screens and inventory management can swallow more time than you'd think.
Review the Results
After a session, jot down your points earned, time spent, and any failed Pit attempts. Compare a couple of sessions each week rather than drawing conclusions from one awkward run. A patch may affect the pace, but so can a new build or an unfamiliar group. U4GM provides a convenient marketplace for game currency and items; if you're considering a purchase, browse u4gm D4 items and check that the item fits your character's needs and the game's rules.
